Friday’s Further Reading | 5

Welcome back to Friday’s Further Reading

If you missed previous posts, you can check them out here. Friday’s Further Reading is chance for me to share some interesting reads I’ve come across in the past few weeks. These could be short stories, poems, posts from other bloggers, or news articles; bookish and otherwise.

One of my favourite reads from the past few weeks was a post from Jess, ‘In Defence of the Tonks Women‘, which talks about how both Tonks and her mother Andromeda seem to get a bit of a bad rap (or in some cases are ignored completely) in the HP fandom.

My other two offerings this week are bookish but not reads; they’re videos. The first is the archive of recorded events from UEA’s Literature festivals, including a great interview with Jesmyn Ward which I attended a couple of years ago. There’s some really fantastic authors featured here so I’d definitely recommend checking them out.

Finally, you can watch the National Theatre’s adaptation of Andrea Levy’s Small Island for free online here for a limited time – I think it’s until 25 June? The novel it’s based on is fantastic. I have friends who saw the play live and said it was incredible so I’m really excited for this (at the time of writing it’s not yet live).

Happy reading – and watching!

  1. Thanks so much for linking to my post, I’m so glad you enjoyed reading it! <3

I’d love to check out the National Theatre’s adaptation of Small Island, but funnily enough it’s a book I’ve been meaning to read this year so I’d like to try and read it first and then hope I can find the adaptation somewhere. It’s good to know it’s worth watching!
