I’m desperately trying to finish The Priory of the Orange Tree in time to get a review out before the end of March, but until then I don’t have any reviews to post, so here’s another book tag! This time I’m looking at books I haven’t read.
A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read
I don’t think there are any… My friends either have different tastes to me and know it, or they’re not pushy enough to keep recommending the same book!
A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t read it
The book that’s been on my TBR the longest has only been there for two years, so that’s not bad really! It’s Caitlin Davies’ Bad Girls, about women in Holloway prison throughout history.
A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing
I have a few of these: The Secret Commonwealth from the Book of Dust trilogy, Black River from the Tuva Moodyson series, and Shift in the Silo series.
A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but have never actually read
I’ve read only a mere handful of American classics, the ones that everyone seems to have read in high school. East of Eden has always been one I’ve fancied but never enough to firmly add it to my TBR.
A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read
My answer for this used to be Eleanor Oliphant but I finally read it! Maybe now it’s Autumn by Ali Smith? Or Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton? These are ones that I’ve even seen people outside of the book blogging/bookstagram communities post on social media about.
A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but just haven’t picked up yet
None! I have Wolf Hall on my TBR but I’ve never seen the series. Generally I won’t bother with the book once I’ve seen it adapted for screen, unless I loved it and I’m desperate for more. Maybe I should do a post about shows/films I wish had been based on books!
A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet
I hardly use my bookish Instagram nowadays but I had a quick scroll through just now and there were a few books that kept popping up: Girl, Woman, Other; Red, White & Royal Blue, Long Bright River and one or more of the Ali Smith Seasons books. I have no desire to read Red, White & Royal Blue (sorry guys, I know this one is well-loved but it’s not for me!), and whilst I’ve heard great things about Girl, Woman, Other, I just don’t really fancy it. I said earlier that Ali Smith’s Autumn is on my TBR already but I’m also tempted by Long Bright River, just not entirely convinced yet.
Have you read any of these books? Are there any you think I should definitely read soon? Let me know!
