Six For Sunday: Favourite Authors to Follow on Twitter

Six For Sunday is a weekly blog series created by Steph @ ALittleButALot. Prompts for the first three months of 2020 are now up, and today’s prompt is Favourite Authors to Follow. It doesn’t specify how you might follow these authors; whether it’s just generally staying up to date on their career or actually following them on social media. Hopefully you’re not literally following them… I decided to go with my favourite authors on Twitter.

Jesmyn Ward – @jesmimi

Author of: Salvage the Bones, Sing Unburied Sing, Where the Line Bleeds, and more.

One of my favourite authors, Jesmyn Ward shares a lot of news stories especially about race-related issues which is so important.

Philip Pullman – @PhilipPullman

Author of: His Dark Material series, The Book of Dust series, and more.

My favourite thing about Philip Pullman is that he doesn’t insist on knowing absolutely everything about the fantastical world that he’s created. See tweet.

Will Dean – @willrdean

Author of: Dark Pines and Red Snow, part of the Tuva Moodyson series.

Will Dean tweets about what it’s like to live in the middle of nowhere in a Northern Swedish forest and it’s honestly goals. Also props for the mega cute cat pics.

Mark Edwards – @mredwards

Author of: The Magpies series, and more.

Full of book recommendations (especially crime/thrillers) and the odd TV recommendation too.

Kayleen Schaefer – @kayleener

Author of: Text Me When You Get Home and the upcoming But You’re Still So Young: How Thirtysomethings are Redefining Adulthood.

I love how much Kayleen Schaefer stresses the importance of and celebrates strong female friendships on her feed, and as someone who is turning 30 in a few years I’m really looking forward to her upcoming book!

Sophie Mackintosh – @fairfairisles

Author of: The Water Cure, The Weak Spot (short story), and the upcoming Blue Ticket.

Big fan of Sophie’s writing and even bigger fan of how down-to-earth and relatable she is on Twitter.
