I started last month’s round-up post with ‘I’m over my reading slump!’ and I’m gonna go ahead and retract that. I’m not really reading right now, and I guess I’m sort of on a semi-unofficial-hiatus from blogging too. I’m just taking some time to do some other things. I wanted to at least do my monthly round-up post though, since I do actually have some things to share. For now, I’m just going to be posting when I have something to post about, rather than trying to stick to any kind of schedule. Here’s what I read in July (though very firmly in the first half, I don’t think I’ve picked up a book since 21 July…)
I finally feel like I’m coming out of my post-Magical Readathon slump, even though I didn’t really pick up a book until about 20 June. I do feel like I’m getting back into my groove now though (just in time for the August Magical Readathon to come around and kick my ass all over again) so hopefully I’ll have more than a couple of books on my July round-up next month. Here’s what I managed to finish in June.
Shall we just reacquaint ourselves with the opening line of my April Round-Up? Ahem…. “Let’s be honest, April was… not fun. Hoping for a slightly more optimistic-looking May!”
Let’s be honest, April was… not fun. Hoping for a slightly more optimistic-looking May! I’ve been very demotivated when it comes to blogging this month. I sit at home in my room on my laptop all day for work, and just the thought of spending more hours doing the same for my blog tires me …
After a trip to Prague at the beginning of the month, the remaining weeks in March were very quiet, not least because of the country basically shutting down due to COVID-19. I started off busy at work, then London Book Fair and other work-related events were cancelled. By mid-March, everyone in my building was working from home, and being cooped up in my house left me going a little stir crazy. Unfortunately, there are a few people close to me who’ve been affected much worse, losing jobs and being separated from family overseas. It’s been a stressful and emotional month, to be quite honest.
This month’s round-up is coming at you a couple of days earlier than usual because today I’m heading to Prague! I’m probably landing in the Czech capital just as this post goes up, and I’m super excited to get away for a few days! I’m not counting on getting much reading done whilst here, but I hope I managed at least an hour on the plane.
I had a really fun month in January, full celebrating: my housemates and I threw a party (just because), it was my brother’s birthday, and a good friend had a house-warming. It was fun but definitely took its toll on my sleep!
Happy New Year! I’ll be doing the obligatory 2019 Round-Up post next week, but first I want to do my usual monthly round-up and talk about December real quick, because boy, was I busy.
I had a somewhat busy month in November – it was my birthday! I had lots of catching up to do with friends and also spent a few days at home with my parents. My reading definitely picked up though which I was grateful for. After a couple of months of reading only three books, I fared much better in November, finishing six books, including one that I started way back in July.
October has been such a great month for me! Let’s see what I got up to, what I read, and what else I’ve been loving this month.
