August’s Monthly Round-Up

Another busy month! The NEWTs Magical Readathon helped me pack a lot of reading in though. I managed to read fifteen books this month, with a total page count of 2780 – that’s about 700 more pages than my average for this year.

NEWTs Magical Readathon Round-Up

I had so much fun with this year’s NEWTs Magical Readathon! I didn’t get a chance to join in with any of the challenges and games on Twitter, but I did take part in a few reading sprints and read a lot. I needed to read seven books to achieve my career of Hogwarts Professor of Divination: an O in Divination (three books), an E in Defence Against the Dark Arts (two books), and two As in any subject (one book each). I chose Charms and Ancient Runes as my two ‘Acceptable’ subjects. You can take a look at my original TBR here. Thanks to some quick and very short reads I managed to get through fifteen books and achieve four Outstanding grades, one Excellent, and one Acceptable.

Hogwarts House Battle: Readathon TBR

So the NEWTs Magical Readathon is coming to end, and despite previously saying I like to take some time off in between readathons, I’ve enjoyed NEWTs so much that I’ve decided to do another Harry Potter-themed readathon straight after, beginning September 1st!

July’s Monthly Round-Up

Ah, July! The weather was scorching, our house was turned upside down by workmen, and everything was kicking off at work. On top of all of that, the beginning of the month saw me really struggling to get into anything I was reading. I DNF-ed two books – TWO! – in the space of a week. I normally DNF two a year, if that. I also had my first 1-star read of the year – I would usually DNF if I think it’s going to be a just 1 star, but this one was short and I had nothing else with me to read at the time so I finished it. However, I made up for these with one of my FAVOURITE reads of 2019 in the form of The Other Half of Augusta Hope, and two more excellent 5-star reads: Ask Again, Yes and The Truants.

Sims-A-Thon Wrap-Up

I decided to do BiancaReads’ Sims-themed readathon – Sims-a-thon – this month, and had so much fun picking books for the prompts and collecting points for each read! It seems like it came at a perfect time too, as the latest Sims 4 expansion pack, Island Living, came out at the end of June. You can see my original TBR post here, which also explains all about how the readathon works. I obviously didn’t stick to my original reading plan, because when do I ever? But here’s what I did read, and how many points those books got me!

May’s Monthly Round-Up

After the rush of reading as much as I could for April’s Magical Readathon, it was really nice to be a bit more leisurely with my reading, letting me really savour each read. I ended up reading some really great books, most of them ended up being four- or five-star reads. Let’s have a look at what I read!

Sims-A-Thon! A Sims-themed Summer Readathon

Remember when I finished the OWLs Magical Readathon and I was like, ‘Phew, glad I can go back to mood-reading now!’? Well, as it turns out, I can’t resist a good readathon and this Sims-themed one from BiancaReads looks amazing! I love the Sims, I think I’ve been playing for over fifteen years now? Obviously on-and-off, you fellow Simmers will know how it goes: you don’t touch the game for months and then suddenly you’re doing 12-hour Sim sessions and you haven’t seen daylight in a week.
