The End of Year Book Tag

I saw this tag on both ReadbyRay and JamiShelves‘ blogs and thought it would be a great way to think about what I want to try to achieve, reading-wise, before the end of the year.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
I read the first essay in Philip Pullman’s Daemon Voices collection back in July and haven’t picked it up since! I really would like to finish it before the year’s out but it’s pretty long and I haven’t been the speediest of readers these past through months so we’ll see.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
Dark academia reads always feel autumnal and I have If We Were Villians on my TBR this month so I guess that’s one.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?
No, I don’t think so! I haven’t been too much attention to upcoming releases recently, I’m just trying to get through what I already have.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
The Priory of the Orange Tree and The Secret Commonwealth, definitely. Both very lengthy books so this may be a challenge! Like I said earlier, I would also like to finish Daemon Voices, but another one is The Pisces – it’s short so it won’t be a problem but every time I put it on my monthly TBR it ends up getting pushed off by something else!

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?
Priory could be a strong contender. Though looking back at my monthly favourites, it’s got a lot of competition.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?
Normally I increase my Goodreads reading challenge each year but I’ve already decided that next year I’m going to lower it slightly. I have a few ARCs that I’m saving for January reading but other than that, no plans! That will definitely change once we get closer though!
