I had a friend visiting this weekend and we went to a feminist literature festival called New Suns at the Barbican and it was brilliant! There were a bunch of publishers there showcasing their feminist lit, and a lot of the books were discounted too. Litwitchure were also there, doing free tarot card readings which was really cool and insightful – I love stuff like that! My friend and I attended a workshop called Unruly Bodies about how society policies women’s bodies and how to reclaim our bodies – very interesting and quite funny in fact. I bought two books from the Granta stand (Convenience Store Woman and Ghost Wall) and got a free tote bag, and then bought You Have the Right to Remain Fat from The Feminist Press. Today we took a walk to the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park and stopped by Daunt Books, where I bought another little Penguin Modern Classic: Daydream and Drunkenness of a Young Lady on the recommendation of my friend.
All in all, a very good bookish weekend!
